Collaboration with @sethtane to create an off-grid power station and shop in a Red Hook shipping container. The installation is built around a 3kW solar array with 800AH of 48VDC battery capacity, featuring a Victron charging and inverting stack, GL.iNet router with LTE radio, Raspberry Pi 5 compute node, marine VHF antenna and AIS receiver as well as a full shop and toolroom with 120/240VAC power. Although the power available is used in the shop for lighting, cordless tool charging, drill press and even welding, the primary consumers are an eSprinter van and 10' electric outboard RIB. Inverter outputs leverage Node-RED, CerboGX relays and MultiPlus programmable assistants to intelligently charge the van and boat without supervision in a load-shedding configuration. Auxiliary applications include a free AIS service running on the Pi, serving up a realtime NYC harbor feed to the public.
